Sell-out crowd cheers on winners at CIJ Awards Romania
The 9th edition of the CIJ Awards Romania took place in Radisson Blu Hotel hotel on 5th of December 2016 to honor the industry’s highest regarded projects, firms and leaders. The award filled evening featured a deluxe four-course dinner and the handing out of more than 30 prizes.
Hosted by Europe’s leading property magazine, CIJ Europe, the CIJ Awards Romania is the country’s longest-running commercial property awards event.
The Radisson Blu in central Bucharest was the venue for CIJ Awards Romania, the last of a series of six such gala evenings held across the CEE region. A sell-out crowd of more than 350 top property professionals gathered for the event in the hotel’s grand ballroom to witness the presentation of 25 prizes for outstanding achievement. In addition to the traditional project awards and prizes for a wide variety of property consultancy and services disciplines, CIJ Awards Romania 2016 featured several new categories, including Fit-Out of the Year (won by COS) and Best Refurbishment of the Year (Bucuresti Mall – Anchor Grup).
Green Court Bucharest, Building C by Skanska won the Leading Green Building Development & Developer of the Year prize, but it was the Globalworth Tower project (by Globalworth) that won this year’s Best Big Office Development of the Year prize. The Best Small Office Development of the Year award went to Forte Partners’ 7,400 sqm project Stefan cel Mare Building. Meanwhile, in the industrial sector, CTP Invest capped off a successful year in Romania by winning Best Warehouse Development & Developer of the Year for its project CTPark Bucharest West. The Best Constructor of the Year was once again Bog’Art, while Optim Project Management took home the winner’s statue for Best Project Management Team of the Year. One company for whom 2016 was a breakthrough year at the CIJ Awards was Premier Estate Management, which won the Best Residential Sales Team of the Year for the first time.
Blake Horsely, P3’s country head, called it an honor for his company to win the Best Warehouse Lease of the Year for its deal with Carrefour. “It is an important achievement, and a recognition of our continuous efforts to offer our customers high-quality buildings constructed respecting next-generation standards,” he said.
Sonae Sierra, which built the ParkLake scheme in Bucharest, won the Best Retail Development & Developer award. Its MD, Ingo Nissen, reacted by saying: “Our aim is to continue doing what we do best and create pleasant and attractive destinations, with amazing architectural features, while respecting the surrounding environment.”
“We are honored by the CIJ Award which has been achieved after a rigorous judging process and represents a recognition of our activity by the entire real estate community,” said Alexandru Reff, partner at Reff & Associates, after his company won the Legal Firm of the Year prize.
“The award for leadership comes as a recognition of our joined efforts, as a team. We hope for a more transparent market, in the interest of both developers and clients.”, said Geo Margescu, CEO & Founder, Forte Partners and winner of the Leadership of the Year award for 2016. Also pleased at the outcome was COS. “This recognition comes from a panel of Real Estate and construction specialists and professionals, who are very well placed and knowledgeable to judge, our performance during the entire year,” said Christophe Weller, Managing Partner COS. “It is like the cherry on the cake, and it is what makes the year even more remarkable.” –
Other winners were equally enthusiastic. “CIJ Awards Romania is one of the most important real estate events in Romania, therefore it is a great satisfaction for Skanska to be among the winning elite,” said Aurelia Luca, country director at Skanska Property Romania. “This award represents an acknowledgment of our collective efforts in providing efficient, future-proof office buildings, and it comes as an extra appreciation for our sustainability commitment.”
Otherwise, CBRE dominated several commercial agency awards, picking up not only the prize for Best Warehouse RE Agency of the Year, but the awards for the Best Retail and Property Management Team of the Year. Knight Frank, no stranger to the awards podium, won Best Office RE Agency of the Year. The Leadership of the Year prize went to Geo Margescu (Forte Partners), while Bank Team of the Year was accepted by UniCredit Bank representatives.
